Eyecare is an important facet of your health, and regular eye exams can prevent future health problems. An annual eye care appointment can allow an optometrist to identify underlying issues and eye loss before it becomes a costly and serious health problem. At Trumansburg Optical, we strive to provide the highest quality care and services to help you see with optimal clarity. Dr. Henninger and staff are passionate and experienced in providing care across the Finger Lakes area.
When you come in for an appointment at Trumansburg Optical, Dr. Henninger will check your eyes, both individually and together to ensure they are functioning properly. First, your vision will be tested both for near and farsightedness, and further testing can be done to decide the exact prescription needed to best suit your eyes.
Due to age, some loss of vision can be expected over the years. However – some conditions can lead to a worsening of this loss of vision. Some of these conditions include diabetes, glaucoma, and cataracts. These conditions, if left untreated, can lead to severe long term impacts on not only your eyes but overall health as well. For this reason, the second step of an eye appointment is a comprehensive health assessment. With this health assessment, Dr. Henninger can then quickly identify conditions affecting your eyes or contributing to the loss of vision.
In some cases, Dr. Henninger may choose to use dilation drops to get a better look inside your eyes. In these cases, a second driver is recommended for after your appointment, as these drops can last for up to 6 hours after your appointment. However, neutralizing drops can be taken to reduce the effects of the dilation drops to 1 hour.
After your eye exam and comprehensive health assessment, if you are in need of corrective lenses, we encourage you to browse our diverse collection of attractive and durable frames that can be ordered in house.
At Trumansburg Optical, we recommend that everyone has an eye appointment annually to ensure optimal eye health! Regular examinations are especially important for those with underlying conditions. A patient should have their eyes examined every year or two, based on the following factors:
